My Journey

I've posted about it before, and I'm not going to go into too many details.  You can read about my weight loss journey on the "My Life" tab at the top of the blog.

Anywho...I've been stuck at a plateau.  There's been no motivation.  I stopped going to the gym for financial reasons.  All I do is make excuses.  Today, I decided to take a trip down memory lane.  Looking at these old photos reminded me of where I was and how far I've come.  I still have a lot to loose, but I've made significant progress towards my goal.

Here's where it gets real, folks.

At one point, I was 260ish pounds.  Shortly after the 2012 photo above is when I decided to start on the journey and a few months after this photo was taken,  I weighed in at 226 pounds.  Today, the last photo above, I am 180 pounds.  Everything I read says that my ideal, healthy weight is around 130 pounds.  What?!!  That means I still have 50 pounds to loose.

Here's to gaining the motivation needed to get this thing done!

  1. You look amazing! That weight loss that you've achieved already is quite a feat that people dream of throughout their whole lives. Don't let "ideals" get you down. Be proud of how far you've come!

  2. You DO look amazing! I agree with Caitlyn, don't focus on the numbers, focus on how you feel. I don't have a gym membership either, it's hard to find the motivation when your all cozy at home. I've been using this app, http://www.sworkit.com , and it's been really helpful.

  3. Wahoo! Way to go, Sarah! And don't worry about *ideal* weight. Find a pair of jeans you look hot in. As long as they fit- you are where you need to be. Plus- muscle weighs more than fat. Don't read the scale- read the feel of the clothes.

  4. Congratulations on how far you've come! Also, it's hard to be motivated in the summer, so try not to let that get you down. You look great!

  5. You have come so far! And congratulations to you for sticking with it! Looking at that last photo, I can't believe you still have 50lbs to go. You are an inspiration as I am currently trying to get my butt in gear and lose all the weight I've gained over the past few years. I need to lose 50 to be at my thinnest. It's also unreal to me - how did I even get to this point?? But I know it took me several years to get this big, it will take hard work and time to get back to my healthy weight. Keep up the good work!

  6. You look great and have made such progress! Motivation is the hardest part of weight loss! I know because I have been there. Taking walks is always an easy way to continue to get a work out on a tight budget. I also have lots of workout videos that I got cheap off of ebay. That gives me some variety.

And I agree with Heather! Think about how you feel! It really does make a difference.

  7. First off, congrats on all that you've already lost! That's a HUGE accomplishment! It's hard to get past those plateaus, but we all experience them. Have you tried looking for a fun video that you can do at home (like Zumba or something)? I did that for a while when I cut out my gym membership, but I recently rejoined for classes. Hope you can get back into the groove of things again!

  8. You look so good! That should be motivation enough! Don't give up because it is so easy to gain back to weight (I should know. I've quit and restarted WW so many times it's depressing). You don't need a gym to workout. Go for a walk, get on youtube and find an exercise you can do at home (Jillian Michaels has some great ones). Great job and Keep going!!
