It's time for another Music Monday!  It's been a while since I last posted one because Monday's are not good days to blog (I know, I know, terrible blog planning on my part!)  But, since I'm hurricane-d in the house, I've got plenty of time to prepare today's post!  Today has been a super fun day of reading, catching up on Gossip Girl, and planning my cruise to Alaska this summer!  Enjoy this edition of Music Monday!  As always, it's full of my favorite current music - most of these being new releases!  Like what you hear?  Head over to iTunes now!

Taylor Swift - 22

Hyland - More Than Famous

From the Kitchen: Savory Waffles

Welcome to From the Kitchen!  A recipe series that I am starting right here on Beyond the Gradebook!  This series will be full of yummy recipes that I've found, tried, and loved!  The first recipe in the From the Kitchen series will be a simple one!!!

Savory Waffles!  Yep, you heard that right.  Savory.  Waffles are for breakfast only, right?  Wrong!

I saw this recipe for the first time on Rachael Ray's show.  She once made savory waffles and they looked and sounded delish - so naturally, I made them and they are the only waffles I want now!

I told you the recipe was simple and I wasn't lying!

Ingredients
Waffle/Pancake Mix
Water
Oil
Ham (or your choice of meat)
Shredded cheese (which ever you prefer)
Honey

Recipe
Prepare your waffle mix as directed on the box.  My mix calls for water and oil (but yours might be different).  Once its all mixed and is the consistency you prefer, add your meat (chopped into smaller size pieces) and a handful of the cheese and stir into your mix.  When your waffle iron is heated up, put in the mix and wait.  Typically, you need to wait until the steam stops coming from the machine and then you know its done!  Remove your waffle and drizzle with some honey (instead of syrup!)

I'm telling you - it's delicious!!  You should try it sometime!  They are good for breakfast, lunch or dinner.  In fact, I'm having one right now as I type this! :)

Sunday Social: Books!

This week's Sunday Social, hosted by Ashley and Neely, is all about books! Talk about the best topic ever! Actually, it's probably tied with travel (because I LOVE that also, but I do get to read more than travel.) I know books, I have books, I read books, I find cheap books, I love to share books. Books = love!

1. What was you favorite childhood book?
My favorite book I remember reading as a child was 'Big Bird Says' by Sharon Lerner.  Similar to 'Simon Says,' but with Big Bird.  Talk about a little kid's dream!  I remember reading (and acting out) this book with my grandfather over, and over, and over, and over...

2. What is your favorite book lately?
'On the Island' by Tracey Garvis-Graves was the best book I've read in a little while.  Don't get me wrong - I honestly rarely read a bad book - but this book was one of my top faves.  I just couldn't stop reading it, couldn't put it down, and I definitely didn't want it to end!  I don't want to tell you what it's about, because I want you to go out and read it!  I've already loaned it out for someone to read and have another person after that I'm going to loan it to.  It's that good!

3. What is the book you wish you could live in?
Oh my, what a question.  I'd have say any Nicholas Sparks book or the Baxter Family Series by Karen Kingsbury.  I'm sure you probably know about Nicholas Sparks' books and could probably guess why I've chosen those.  Karen Kingsbury's Baxter Family is one incredible family - they fight through the rough times, laugh through the good times, and love through all times.  They have plenty of friends, the Flanigan Family (for one), and are just an amazing group of people.  I'm also very excited because I saw on Karen's facebook page just the other day that they are working on a Baxter Family TV Series!!

4. If you could be any character from a book, who would it be and why?
Going back to question 3, I'd love to be a member of the Baxter Family.  But more so, I'd probably love being Bailey Flanigan (of the Flanigan Family that is friends with the Baxter Family).  She has a heart of gold, loves people, and is a truly genuine person.  Throughout the series, she ends up on Broadway, sharing her love of God with others, and eventually acting in some mainstream movies in Hollywood.  She's the classic story of small town girl goes Hollywood!

5. What is your favorite book turned movie?
The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks is a favorite.  The book was great and the movie was amazing.  Although, I wish they didn't cast Miley Cyrus for that part, but that's a conversation for another day.  The Nanny Diaries and Something Borrowed are two other stories that were turned into great movies!

8. What is your favorite magazine?
Oh, I love many magazines.  My favorites are HGTV Magazine, Rachael Ray Magazine, Food Network Magazine, and ALL YOU Magazine!  A lot of decorating and cooking goes on here!

Didn't I tell you I had a lot of books?  And this isn't even all of them!  Check out my shelves below!!  I have books on shelves, tucked here, hidden there, they are all over the house!  And I even have a serious stack of magazines!

That's all folks!  Tell me.  What's your favorite book?
